Remember Remember, The 5th of November...I always remember the 5th of November. It's my Mother's Birthday. Across the country people light bonfires and set off fireworks...but that's for a completely different event! The 5th of November is collectively known as Bonfire night, or Guy Fawkes night. We celebrate today, something that occurred back in 1605. Guy Fawkes, a member of the gun powder plot, was arrested whilst guarding explosives that the plotters had placed beneath the house of Lords. Perhaps if he hadn't been, the country would have been a different place today, maybe not. Who knows! But regardless, we celebrate the fact that way back then King James I survived the attempt on his life. Today, the 5th is an annual public day of thanksgiving.

In Britain, we celebrate by building bonfires and throwing 'guy fawkes' dummys on top of them. It sounds barbaric, to an outsider it probably is, but actually it's a great time of year in which old and young alike celebrate together. Autumn just makes it that mu

Update: The contest deadline is fast approaching and it's HALLOWEEN! So get creative now and capture your pumpkins! Remember that your entry must be still life photography, therefore it cannot include any people!

Start Date: 5th October
End Date: 5th November
Theme
The aim of this contest is to promote, educate and understand Still Life Photography. So your captures must have a still life element to them i.e. arranged (they can't be pumpkins growing in a field) and it must include pumpkin in some way, shape or form. So you could carve a pumpkin, make a pumpkin soup, decorate a pumpkin, make pumpkin pie...and so on. The Overall Winners of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place are eligible to win in the sub-categories too.

There is nothing more inspiring about History then the passage of time and what better way to admire time then appreciating some beautiful art. Each calender brings to the table a handful of talent and beautiful spreads. It offers Anthro artists a unique opportunity to participate in a huge community project.
